Common Questions

How do I scan a food label?

Open the Scan tab and choose Scan with Camera or Import Label Photo. Review the extracted product name, brand, expiry date, quantity, category, and storage details before saving.

How do I add food manually?

Open the Pantry dashboard and use manual entry to add a product name, category, quantity, storage location, and expiry date.

How do expiry reminders work?

Pro users can enable expiry reminders in Settings. Food Expiry AI schedules local notifications before saved food items expire.

Why is the extracted date wrong?

OCR and AI extraction can misread labels, damaged packaging, unusual date formats, or low-light photos. Always review and edit extracted information before saving.

How do I get meal ideas?

Open Recipes to generate simple recipe ideas using foods that expire soon.

How do I use AI Pantry Chat?

Open the AI Chat tab and ask about what to cook, what to use first, or how to organize your pantry. AI responses are suggestions and should be reviewed by you.

How do I restore purchases?

Open Settings and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.

How do I cancel Pro?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open iOS Settings, tap your Apple ID, choose Subscriptions, then select Food Expiry AI.

Is my OpenAI API key inside the app?

No. Food Expiry AI does not store an OpenAI API key in the iOS app. AI requests are handled through a private server-side proxy.
